Mike Cook is a self-employed computer consultant and a long-time resident of Sebastopol. He let us know about one particular, and particularly effective, non-profit started here in West County. What is Ignite? It’s a fun, high-energy evening of a dozen or so “speed presentations” given by people like you to their hometown crowd. Ignite presenters get 5 minutes to talk about whatever lights them up, using 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds–whether they’re ready or not. It has a geek culture bent, though folks have talked about everything from “The Best Way to Buy a Car” to “Hacking Chocolate” to “19th Century Pneumatic Tubes.” For more information about Ignite and how to start an event in your community, see: http://igniteshow.com.
